The main property, "La Forge" is the original home of the village blacksmith, dating back to 1840, with exposed beams throughout. The main house comprises 4 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a large sitting room with inglenook fireplace, and a wood burning stove with wood storage. There is an eat-in, fully equipped kitchen, also with its own Godin wood burning stove, laundry area, large dining room seating 6, and large conservatory. The house has satellite dish for UK cable television and aerial for all French television channels.
A major feature is the UK-based WIFI which allows access via mobiles and tablets to all UK catch-up, including BBC I PLAYER.
An additional property, a converted backhouse, "L'Ancien Fournil", is attached to the house and is accessed from the conservatory. The bake house has its own private entrance and own terrace overlooking the heated pool. Fully renovated in 2016, the studio comprises its own sitting room, en suite shower room and bathroom, and double bedroom on the first floor. The studio is ideal for Parents or Grandparents preferring their "own space", and is equipped with its own large television with both UK and French television channels, together with a separate WIFI resource. There is a weekly supplement to include this in the rental.
Outside, the property has secluded gardens to the front and back, with views to the Meyronne Cliffs and Hills. Plum, pear, apple and fig trees grow throughout the property. In front of the property is a pergola with an old vine, which in 2018 produced 35 litres of grape juice!
The heated swimming pool, 10 metres x 5 metres is decked around the entire pool, and fully secured.
Over the Meyronne bridge, and only 3 mins. drive away, is the neighbouring village of St. Sozy with garage, two grocery shops, one making up sandwiches daily, a post office, a butcher, a hairdresser, and two restaurants, "Le Capricorne" and "Le Grangier". The Capricorne has a takeaway pizza service.

A washing machine and a freezer are located in a small annex off the kitchen. There are original exposed beams throughout.
The large dining room 16ft. x 10.5 ft. (168 sq. ft.). comprises dining table seating 6 and armoire. Double French doors lead off the dining room to the garden. There are original exposed beams throughout.
The large conservatory 8ft. x 14 ft. (112 sq. ft.) comprises dining table seating 4 and free-standing wall unit. Double French doors lead off the conservatory to a decked area.
The expansive living room in the main house, 15 ft. x 15ft. (225 sq. ft.) with its large cantou fireplace and wood burner, comprises 2 two-seater sofas, one armchair, one easy-chair, sideboard/drinks cabinet, one glass table with table lamp, television unit with flat screen television, showing both UK and French television channels, CD player and two corner lamps. Double French doors lead off the sitting room to the garden. Access to the conservatory is from the sitting room. There are original exposed beams throughout.

There is a large south-facing garden to the front of the property and smaller gardens to the rear of the house, including a gravel drive suitable for at least 4 cars.
In the summer the rear garden, fully fenced and secure, is concealed to the outside world with vine, plum, pear, apple and fig trees and climbing Wisteria surrounding the property.

Famous Clifftop Rocamadour
Rocamadour is a famous village and religious centre dating back to the 12th Century, with all its traditional buildings and Church preserved in history, characterful shops and great restaurants. The approach to the village is spectacular and is a mecca for those following the pilgrim route of Jacques de Compostelle. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Centre, the village only 15 mins from the house. Not to be missed!
Quercyland is one of the largest aquatic parks in the area and is a must for all children that love flumes and water games of all descriptions. A full day out in Souillac with restaurant facilities, just 15 mins from the house.
Museum of automated toys Souillac

La Cave Grotto
A wonderful visit of caves over 200 years old, located only 10 mins from the house. There are 2 restaurants opposite.
Peche Merle Caves
One of the most incredible visits you will ever make and one of the few places in Europe where you can be within feet of original cave paintings drawn by cave dwellers 20,000 years ago. The caves are an hour away to the south. www.en.pechemerle.com

The closest is "La Terrasse", 5 mins. walk from the house whose outdoor terrace overlooks the Dordogne river. Telephone 0565322160.
The closest Michelin star restaurant, "Le Pont de l'Ouysse", is in the nearby village of La Cave, 8 mins. drive from the house.
The famous "Chateau de la Treyne" restaurant and hotel has the most wonderful view perched on the Dordogne, with top service. The restaurant is 18 mins. from the house.
All three are very popular in the summer months......so best to telephone to reserve. All establishments speak English and French!
The area is full of delightful small restaurants serving wonderful meals at very reasonable prices compared to the UK.....not to mention great local wines!
